PRINCIPLE OF THE TEST.
Program for processing tissues overnight.
SPECIMEN REQUIRED.
All human tissue excised at surgery, outpatient clinics, and postmortems,
fresh or in fixative, along with a filled-out
Tissue Examination Form
(U. S. Standard Form 515, USSF515).
REAGENTS, INSTRUMENTATION.
10% Neutral Buffered Formalin.
70% Flex solution.
80% Flex solution.
95% Flex solution.
100% Flex solution.
Clearing solution.
Paraffin.
STEP-BY-STEP DESCRIPTION.
1. To start the process, press [F1/start]. The keyboard lockout
menu displays. This can prevent unauthorized people from
altering the process once you start the program. If you select
this feature, you will have to enter a code (one to four digits)
to stop the process.
2. Read and follow the directions on the screen, summarized here:
2.1. To use this feature with the lockout code
previously on the screen, summarized here:
2.2. To use this feature and assign a new lockout code, enter
the new code (one to four digits) on the keypad, press [ENTER].
2.3. To bypass this feature, press [F4/CANCEL].
3. When the process starts, the solution in station 1 will be
pulled into the processing chamber. The program will run until reaching
the delay station (if selected), pause, and then resume after the delay
period. The program will proceed automatically until completed.
4. To stop or interrupt the processing cycle, press [F1/STOP].
5. If you selected the keyboard lockout feature, enter the
code, press [ENTER].
6. NOTE: You have 20 seconds to enter the lockout code.
Failure to do so will restart the program from point of
interruption.
7. To restart the processing program from the point where it was
interrupted, press [F1/START].
8. To release the vacuum or pressure from the processing chamber,
press [F2/RELEASE]. This will allow chamber lid to be opened safely.
9. To drain the solvents or paraffin from the processing chamber,
press [F3/DRAIN]. Executing a DRAIN aborts the program. When
the drain has been completed, the SYSTEM MAINTENANCE MENU displays.
10. At the end of the processing program, the display shows:

11. The last reagent used remains in the processing chamber. Press
[Fl/DRAIN] to drain the processing chamber.
12. When draining is complete, the PURGE SYSTEM MENU displays as a reminder
to purge the system. The following message displays on the screen:
WARNING: YOU MUST OPEN PROCESS POT LID TO ENSURE THAT TISSUES ARE REMOVED.
13. Open the chamber lid and lift out the cassette basket. Close
and secure the chamber lid.
14. Run the Purge Cycle as described on the next page.
