PRINCIPLE OF THE TEST.

      Preparation of alcohol solutions for cytology laboratory.



SPECIMEN REQUIRED.

      Gynecologic cytology and non-gynecologic cytology specimens, with a filled-out Tissue Examination Form (SF-515) for non-gynecologic cytology specimens, and Gynecologic Cytology Form (SF-541) for gynecologic cytology specimens.



REAGENTS, INSTRUMENTATION.

      95% Ethanol. Distilled Water.



STEP-BY-STEP DESCRIPTION.

      80% ETHYL ALCOHOL (1000 ML): MIX: 950 ml of 95% ethyl alcohol. 150 ml of distilled water.
      70% ETHYL ALCOHOL (1000 ML): MIX: 750 ml of 95% ethyl alcohol. 250 ml of distilled water.
      50% ETHYL ALCOHOL (1000 ML): MIX: 550 ml of 95% ethyl alcohol. 450 ml of distilled water (for destaining and restaining).
