PRINCIPLE OF THE TEST.

      To lyse red blood cells.



SPECIMEN REQUIRED.

      Fresh non-gynecologic cytology specimen, with a filled-out Tissue Examination Form (SF-515).



REAGENTS, INSTRUMENTATION.

      Glacial CytoLyt Solution. 500 ml glass flask. Cyto-Lyt Solution. Glacial Acetic Acid.



STEP-BY-STEP DESCRIPTION.

      1. Mix together the two solutions in a container.

      2. Label and date.



4% ACID ALCOHOL.


      4 ml glacial acetic acid.

      96 ml distilled water.

      1. Mix together the 2 solutions in a clean sterile container.

      2. Label and date (use precautionary label).

      3. Solution is prepared and given to the clinic when requested.
