      To provide safe storage and disposal requirements for laboratory reagents.

      Alcohol. Cytolyt.



STEP-BY-STEP DESCRIPTION.

      1. All working solutions and stains are properly labeled and dated. Storage requirements and expiration dates must be indicated on all labeled stains and solutions. Chemicals and reagents are not to be used after the expiration date and are MSDS labeled with precaustions and recommendations for action in the event of direct exposure. LABELS SHOULD INCLUDE, AS APPLICABLE, THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS:
1.1. CONTENT AND QUANTITY, CONCENTRATION OR TITER,

1.2. STORAGE REQUIREMENTS,

1.3. DATE PREPARED OR RECEIVED,

1.4. DATE PLACED IN SERVICE,

1.5. EXPIRATION DATE.
      2. Acids are stored in acid cabinets separate from other chemicals and reagents.

      3. Flammable reagents are stored in flame-proof cabinets and/or containers.

      4. Some reagents require refrigeration in explosion-proof refrigerator.

      5. The MSDS is referred to for the proper method of storage and disposal. When these methods are not indicated on the MSDS, the hospital Safety Officer is consulted. In the case of Flex-100, waste chemical will be collected in the laboratory. When each container of waste chemical is filled, the safety officer will be contacted for local pick-up. This waste chemical is then placed in storage in the hazardous waste storage room located on the exterior of the medical center. The final disposal of this waste chemical is completed through a licensed hazardous waste disposal contractor.
